At Pinky Swear & Co., each candle is hand-poured with love in Toronto and finished with a crackling wooden wick. These wicks create a warm, cozy ambiance and a cleaner burn — and with a little care, they’ll glow beautifully every time.

A Gentle Principle: Every flame begins with care — always follow the safety label beneath your candle before lighting.

Wooden wicks need a little attention to burn at their best.

• Before each burn, trim the wick to about ⅛ inch (3 mm).
  
• Use a wick clipper or gently pinch off the charred wood once cooled.
  
• Keep the wax pool free of debris for a clean, steady flame.
  

This small ritual prevents excess smoke, reduces soot, and extends the life of your candle.

The first few burns set the tone for the life of your candle. Always allow the wax to melt fully to the edges of the vessel (usually 2–3 hours).

It ensures your candle burns evenly, from start to finish.

Blowing out a wooden wick can create smoke and affect its fragrance. Instead:

• Use a candle snuffer to gently extinguish the flame for a clean, smoke-free finish.

Allow the wax to cool and solidify before moving or relighting.

• Discontinue burning when about ½ cm of wax remains at the bottom of the vessel.
• To reuse: place the vessel in the freezer for a few hours, pop out the remaining wax and wick tab, then wash gently with warm, soapy water.

You may notice craters or slight unevenness once your candle cools — this is completely natural with coconut soy wax. It’s a sign that your candle is pure, non-toxic, and free from chemical additives or preservatives.
